A Certain Slant of Light
A Certain Slant of Light is a Southern Colorado black-and-white mountain print from an annual fall photography trip—one of those days when we climbed a smaller peak just to get a view into the bigger mountains beyond. As the sun dropped toward the horizon, the weather started to build and the sky turned heavy with texture. Then, for a brief moment, it looked like a spotlight switched on and aimed straight through the valley.
That slanted beam of light is what I chased with the camera. It cut across the landscape, separating ridgelines and carving depth into the scene—bright where the light touched, nearly black where the clouds and shadows held on. In black and white, the moment becomes pure contrast: storm clouds, distant snowy peaks, and one clean channel of illumination moving through the mountains.
If you’re looking for Colorado mountain wall art or a dramatic black and white landscape print with a wide, panoramic feel, A Certain Slant of Light brings that fleeting, end-of-day intensity into a home or office—quiet, powerful, and gone as quickly as it arrived.

Print Size
- All prints come with a 1.5 inch white border. All sizes listed on the website are of the actual printed image. For example, a 10”x10” photo will be on a 13”x13” piece of paper, a 16”x24” photo will be printed on a 19”x27” paper. This will make framing easier and ensure that the photo will not be covered by the frame or matting. If you need help with sizing then click here to message me.
Superimposing
- If you cannot decide on which image to select you may send me a photo of your room/space and I’d be happy to digitally superimpose up to a few images on your wall. This way you can vizualize how it will look in your room next to your lava lamp.
Paper and Print Quality
- These are not just posters! I've tested many papers that show my work in the best way possible, using paper from manufactures that were founded in the 1500s – yes, well before the 1980s! These papers and inks are of archive quality and are designed to last a really, really long time. They're thick and show color and light contrast well. Avoid touching printed area or exposure to direct sunlight.
Computer screen vs Paper
- Please be aware that the appearance of prints may differ from what you see on your computer screen. This is because screens have varying color and contrast settings and emit light. Rest assured; your print will have even more detail than the screen shows. That’s why printing is so fun!
Framing
- The prints do not come with framing or built in mounting capabilities – yet. If you would like to frame your print, I recommend visiting your professional local framing shop where they will guide you on mounting and glass options.
Lighting and Care
- To ensure the longevity of your print, It’s recommended avoiding direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting. Dont fold it, lick it, set it a fire, or wash it, like ever.
I am determined to give you the best possible prints and make sure you are completely happy with them.
