Equilibrium
Equilibrium is a Ridgway, Colorado aspen print from the San Juan Mountains, made in one of the few places that reliably settles my mind: an aspen grove with a gentle stream running through it. This scene is close to a spot where we camped for a few nights on a friend’s ranch in Southern Colorado, and it has that quiet, reset feeling that comes with being tucked into trees with moving water nearby.
To match that feeling, I used intentional camera movement (ICM) to let the image drift slightly toward abstraction. Instead of freezing every detail, the motion softens the trunks into vertical patterns and turns the stream into a smooth ribbon of light. The result is less about documenting a place and more about capturing what it feels like to stand there—balanced, calm, and a little detached from the noise.
