Follow the Leader

As the sun dropped and the colder air began to slide in, a group of bull elk started heading for lower elevations. They crested the hill in a clean line and began disappearing toward the forest below. I could see they were about to align with the mountain backdrop, so I focused on that distant ridge and waited as they walked right through the frame—one elk clearly in front, the rest following his lead.
