Poise is a San Juan Mountains aspen print made in the heart of Colorado fall—when hiking through the trees is almost indescribable. Sometimes the best part of an aspen grove isn’t a literal scene—it’s the rhythm: the vertical lines of the trunks, the spacing between them, and the way the whole forest feels like it has structure and movement at once. That’s why I used intentional camera movement (ICM) here. Instead of freezing every detail, the motion pulls the trunks into clean streaks and separates them from the glowing fall color behind, turning the grove into something more abstract and painterly.
